Harvest Baptist Church began meeting in the fall of 1971 in the home of Ernest Tudor on Shallowford Road in Kennesaw. By mid-December, the number of people attending had outgrown the Tudor's home and we began meeting at the Blackwell Elementary School on Canton Road in Marietta. It was also during that month that during our first Christmas Dinner the men and their families gave at great sacrifice to purchase the property on which the former auditorium, school building, and parsonage stood.

The church's first pastor was Carl Braswell, from December 1972 to April 1982. Under his leadership, Harvest Christian Academy began in the fall of 1976. Both the church and the school grew much over the next few years. After Bro. Braswell felt the call of God to move to Texas, the church went through many tests, valleys, and mountain tops over the next 12 years. During this time, there were three pastors and one interim pastor.

In November 1994 on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, God gave us Pastor Dan Reed. Over the past years God has blessed his ministry and our church with many saved and added to our Church.

Ten plus years have now come and gone since Pastor Reed first came to Harvest. These have been wonderful and exciting years. We have seen the church grow and the ministries expand such that we are reaching people for Christ - and hopefully impacting our area for Christ more than ever!

Several years ago we embarked on a building program which began with the expectation to build on our old property on Highway 92 where we had been for more than 30 years.

But, the Lord changed those plans and through a verse of Scripture enlarged our vision. In II Chronicles 25:9 we read, "The Lord is able to give thee much more than this."

With the vision of that verse in mind we began to look for a new property. The Lord gave us the first piece of property we seriously looked at. It is a beautiful 21 acre plot of ground on Kellogg Creek Road. After the church decided to buy the property, a decision was made to sell the old property and within three months, a buyer gave us much more than we thought possible! But this was simply a fulfillment of the Lord's promise, "The Lord is able to give thee much more than this." Though many difficulties and hurdles had to be overcome, we built, under God, a beautiful 38,000 square-foot facility here on Kellogg Creek Road. Now the Lord is adding to His church and guiding us to new ministries and areas of service. The future is as bright as the promises of God! It is hard for those of us who have been around here for any length of time to even come on this property without rejoicing in God's goodness! "What God hath wrought!"
